Chandler City Council Appoints Angel Encinas as Vice Mayor Amidst Downtown Chandler Revitalization

Encinas to Serve as Vice Mayor Through January 2027, Overseeing Chandler's Dynamic Growth

In a unanimous decision on January 8, the Chandler City Council appointed Angel Encinas as the city's new vice mayor, a role he will fulfill until January 14, 2027.

Expressing his gratitude, Encinas remarked, "This role as vice mayor is especially meaningful because this city is my home." He acknowledged the support of the City Council, his family, and friends, emphasizing that Chandler has profoundly influenced his life and values.

Encinas, who began his first term on the City Council in January 2023, actively participates in various committees, including the Community Safety, Connectivity, and Economic Vitality subcommittees. He also represents Chandler on the Phoenix East Valley Partnership Board of Directors and contributes to the Chandler Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Committee. His dedication to public service was nationally recognized in December 2024 when the National League of Cities honored him with the Under 40 Impact Award for his significant contributions to community development.

Raised in the heart of Downtown Chandler, Encinas continues to reside there, managing an immigration consulting firm and working as a realtor. A product of Chandler's public schools and a graduate of Chandler High School, he holds a bachelor's degree in business from Arizona State University with a minor in sustainability.

Encinas' appointment comes at a pivotal time for Chandler, as the city experiences significant growth and revitalization. The Chandler Fashion Center has announced a major redevelopment project aimed at enhancing its dining and retail offerings, including the introduction of new full-service restaurants and expanded patios for year-round dining. Additionally, Downtown Chandler has welcomed several new establishments, such as George & Gather, a locally owned restaurant offering a full-scratch kitchen, and Miel de Agave, a vibrant Mexican dining experience with live music.

These developments reflect Chandler's commitment to fostering a dynamic and thriving community, with Vice Mayor Encinas poised to play a key role in guiding the city's future growth and prosperity.
