Arizona artists will take the spotlight when one of Chandler's longstanding cultural events returns next month.

The 27th annual Mariachi Festival, paired with folklĂłrico dance, takes place Sunday, November 1, at 4 p.m. at Chandler Center for the Arts.

The program celebrates Mexican music and dance while honoring DĂa de Muertos traditions.

For residents looking for a local cultural outing, it is a chance to see a festival built around performers who call Arizona home.

A homegrown lineup

The announced artists include Mariachi Pueblo Viejo, Mariachi Nueva Fusion, Evelyn Ozuna and Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli-AZ dancers.

Chandler Center for the Arts presents the event with C.A.L.L.E. de Arizona and Maestra Vanessa Ramirez.

The combination of live music and folklĂłrico performance gives audiences more than one way to connect with the celebration.

Visitors can also explore a mercado featuring local vendors.

Rather than treating the event as a generic concert date, consider the opportunity to experience music, movement and community traditions together.

That is an appealing starting point for someone attending the festival for the first time.

Separate the ticketed show from the free gathering

The mainstage performance is a paid event, with advertised all-in ticket tiers of $49, $59, $69 and $79.

Choose seats and confirm current availability through the official ticket link before making firm plans.

Chandler Center for the Arts is at 250 N. Arizona Avenue.

The festival listing also invites visitors to an earlier free community celebration, Entre Dos Mundos, featuring food, music and activities.

The free community gathering and the ticketed mainstage show are different parts of the day.

Free admission to one should not be interpreted as a ticket to the other.

Check the earlier event's current schedule separately if you hope to attend both.

That distinction can help families decide whether to make a full day of the visit or focus on the afternoon performance.

A scholarship deadline comes first

The festival's community connection extends to C.A.L.L.E. de Arizona's scholarship program.

The organization lists an October 20 application deadline for three scholarships of $1,000 each.

Eligibility includes a commitment to the Latino community, a qualifying undergraduate enrollment plan at an Arizona state university and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

The application requirements include transcripts, recommendation letters and a 500-word essay.

Students should review the complete rules immediately if interested, since those materials take time to assemble.

Recipients are scheduled to be recognized at the November 1 festival and must be present to receive the award.

Ask the scholarship organizer about any eligibility or document question rather than relying on a shortened description.

The application is separate from buying a performance ticket.

October is the time to act on the scholarship opportunity, even though the stage celebration happens in November.

For other visitors, the current task is simpler: decide which parts of the day you want to attend and arrange the right tickets.

If you are inviting someone unfamiliar with the venue, share its Arizona Avenue address and a meeting plan.

Allow time for parking, finding the entrance and reaching your seats without rushing.

Anyone with accessibility needs should review venue information and contact the box office about arrangements before purchasing.

For a family outing, talk through what the performance includes and choose an arrival plan that suits the people joining you.

Keep the earlier community event's timing separate from the 4 p.m. show when organizing meals or transportation.

The festival offers a way to appreciate Arizona performers within a celebration that connects art, remembrance and community.

Check the official lineup and ticket availability, then save November 1 for the performance.

If a student in your household may qualify for the scholarship, share the October 20 deadline while there is still time to prepare.
