Household Products Giveaway Set in Chandler, Arizona |
Eligible residents can collect free items through the city's reuse event |

Chandler residents have an upcoming chance to collect useful household products without buying them new.
The city's household products giveaway takes place Friday, November 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Recycling-Solid Waste Collection Center.
The event at 955 E. Queen Creek Road redistributes qualifying items collected through the city's household hazardous waste program.
Many donated products are new or only partly used, allowing the city to promote reuse when suitable materials can serve another household.
Know who can participate
The giveaway is available to Chandler residents who receive city solid waste services or live in a Chandler multi-family unit.
Participants must bring a photo ID and a copy of a utility bill showing their current Chandler address.
Set those documents aside before leaving home so the visit does not depend on finding the right paperwork at the entrance.
If you are uncertain whether your address or housing arrangement qualifies, contact Solid Waste Customer Service at 480-782-3510.
An address described informally as Chandler is not a reason to assume eligibility without checking the city's requirements.
The published participation rules are the useful starting point when deciding whether to make the trip.
Expect a changing selection
The quantity and types of available products vary, and items are distributed first-come, first-served.
There are no reservations, and each customer is limited to ten items.
Participants also need to complete a waiver before taking products.
Past giveaways have included cleaning supplies, automotive fluids, paint, stains, varnishes, pesticides and camping propane tanks.
Those examples describe previous availability, not a promise that a particular product will be on the tables November 6.
Approach the event as a chance to find something useful, rather than a guaranteed source for one specific project.
Before attending, think about the household tasks you actually have planned and which products you would reasonably use.
Taking an unfamiliar item simply because it is free can leave you with another container to store.
Check the label and ask staff about anything you do not understand before deciding to take it.
This event will not accept your drop-offs
The city explicitly says household hazardous waste cannot be dropped off during the giveaway.
That is the most important distinction for residents tempted to combine collecting products with clearing out a garage.
Ordinary hazardous-waste disposal is a separate service requiring an appointment.
Call 480-782-3510 to arrange that visit and review the accepted-material rules before loading your vehicle.
For a disposal appointment, the city asks residents to identify the types and quantities of materials and follow its packaging instructions.
Giveaway attendance does not replace that process.
A quick check now can prevent the wrong kind of trip later, especially if you have a collection of old household chemicals waiting for disposal.
The photograph of collection operations accompanying this story illustrates that separate service.
It does not mean staff will unload your unwanted materials at the November 6 event.
Keep the giveaway time and the disposal appointment distinct on your calendar.
For the giveaway itself, arrive within the announced two-hour window with the required identification and address documentation.
Plan around the ten-item limit and the possibility that the selection will change as other residents arrive.
After choosing a product, retain its label and follow the manufacturer's use and storage instructions.
Only select items that suit your household's needs and that you can manage appropriately.
The value of the program is making use of materials that might otherwise remain unused, while giving residents access to them at no charge.
It is a small local reuse opportunity with specific rules, not a general-purpose shopping or disposal event.
Check eligibility, bring your documents and make November 6 a visit focused on products you can actually use.
If your goal is getting rid of hazardous materials instead, use the city's separate appointment service. |
