Join the Amazing Arizona Adventures for an unforgettable evening under the stars

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Amazing Arizona Adventures as they host the Full Moon Hike at South Mountain on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Gather at 5:30 PM at the Javelina Trailhead, located at 7898 S 46th St., Phoenix, AZ.

The hike will commence promptly at 5:45 PM, just in time to witness the stunning Arizona sunset at 6:00 PM.

As the sun dips below the horizon, the city lights begin to twinkle, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for the journey.

By 7:10 PM, the full moon will rise, illuminating the trail and enhancing the desert's natural beauty.

The weather forecast for the evening is favorable, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the upper 40s.

Participants are encouraged to dress in layers to stay comfortable as temperatures drop after sunset.

This 3.8-mile loop hike, with an elevation gain of approximately 410 feet, traverses the Javelina, Ridgeline, and Beverly Canyon trails.

Rated as moderate, the hike offers a balanced challenge suitable for those with some hiking experience.

To reach the trailhead, take I-10 to 48th Street and head south to Baseline Road.

Turn right (west) on Baseline, then left (south) on 46th Street.

Drive to the end of the road and park in the second lot on the left.

Remember to bring plenty of water, a snack, and a camera to capture the breathtaking views.

While flashlights are optional, the full moon and city lights typically provide ample illumination.

If you choose to use a flashlight, please be considerate of fellow hikers by avoiding direct beams into others' eyes.

Please note that this hike may not be suitable for beginners due to its moderate difficulty and nighttime conditions.

The event organizers, volunteers from Amazing Arizona Adventures, are not professional guides and assume no responsibility for participants' safety.

Each participant is responsible for their own well-being and that of their guests.

South Mountain Park, the largest municipal park in the United States, offers a unique opportunity to experience the Sonoran Desert's beauty under the glow of a full moon.

Don't miss this chance to connect with nature and fellow hiking enthusiasts on a memorable night adventure.
